On 10 December, ISCTE Executive Education hosted the event ‘Breast Cancer: New Hope’. This initiative highlighted Sense Glove, an innovative technology co-financed by COMPETE 2030, dedicated to prevention, research and technological innovation in the fight against breast cancer. The meeting was attended by Alexandra Vilela, President of COMPETE 2030, and aimed to present new solutions that transform early detection and monitoring of the disease, as well as reinforcing the importance of health literacy.

New hope presented at ISCTE

On 10 December, ISCTE Executive Education hosted the event ‘Breast Cancer: New Hope’. The opening was led by Professor Rui Vinhas da Silva, Member of the Executive Committee of ISCTE Executive Education. This initiative was dedicated to prevention, research and technological innovation in the fight against breast cancer. The meeting aimed to present new solutions that transform early detection and monitoring of the disease. In addition, it reinforced the importance of health literacy.

Alexandra Vilela, President of COMPETE 2030, actively participated in the event. Her presence highlighted the importance of funding projects that promote innovation in healthcare. The event brought together experts, researchers and entrepreneurs, all focused on discussing innovative solutions for the early detection and monitoring of this disease.

Innovation in the Spotlight

One of the main attractions was the presentation of the innovative Sense Glove, accompanied by the SenseApp application. This Portuguese technology promises to make breast self-examination more intuitive, accessible and accurate. Frederico Stock, Co-founder, CFO & COO of CleoCare, presented this solution. CleoCare is a company co-financed by COMPETE 2030.

Testimonies of Hope and Resilience

The event was not limited to scientific and technical presentations. It also included inspiring moments through real testimonies from public figures. Among the guests were Fernanda Serrano and Tia Cátia, both with personal experiences in the fight against cancer. Rita Stock, who was unable to attend, had a video shown during the session. The programme also featured specialists such as Pedro Antunes Meireles, Ana Sofia Ribeiro and Luís Brito Elvas, leading professionals in the field of oncology. Mónica Silvares, Executive Editor of ECO, moderated the debate.

A Unique Opportunity

This initiative was a unique opportunity to learn about emerging technologies and professionals dedicated to the advancement of oncology in Portugal. The importance of health literacy and the promotion of prevention were highlighted throughout the event. The commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer was evident. By combining science and personal experiences, ‘Breast Cancer: New Hope’ inspired everyone present to continue the fight against the disease.
