Two of the projects honoured at the iTechStyle Awards received support from COMPETE 2020: ImpacTex by TMG Textiles, a protective jacket for motorcycling, and Pafil’s Exoskeleton, a device that reduces physical effort for seamstresses.

The companies Inovafil, FLM Têxtil, TMG Textiles, Bordados Oliveira, Pafil and Têxteis Penedo were the big winners of the iTechStyle Awards, held in May 2024 during the iTechStyle Summit. There were 69 fabrics, 40 finished products and 82 accessories on display at the iTechStyle Showcase.

In the best product category, the winners were:

– ImpacTex by TMG Textiles, co-financed by COMPETE 2020, which uses textile materials in protective equipment for motorcycling, offering expansion and impact absorption characteristics.

– Prothese Swimsuit by FLM Textiles, a swimsuit adapted for women recovering from mastectomy.

In the Smart category, Pafil was honoured with the Exoskeleton, a project co-funded by COMPETE 2020, which reduces the physical effort of seamstresses.

These awards highlight innovation and excellence in the Portuguese textile industry, underlining the positive impact of EU funds in promoting the sector’s competitiveness and sustainability.
